I got the student edition of 3ds Max even though I have no classes involving it.

It's easy to pickup and there is ample amount of online videos for it..

Eat3D, 3D palace and 3D Motive is what I recommend

meh I got stuck in modeling since I started texturing. It's really hard to do it so it doesn't just look like crap. Now I just got a bunch of unmodeled models :|

should really take the time to learn. Anyone who knows any good tutorial for texturing in softimage mod tool?

Unmodeled Modesl? Do you mean; Untextured Models? You do realise that you don't actually do the texturing in softimage right? You have to unwrap the model and then use a program like photoshop to create the textures then wrap the model back up again. I might know a few tutorials, but it depends what you are trying to texture.

oh I mean untextured models, ops :)

no I know that it's done in photoshop and such but the thing is. It's really hard to draw something that looks good enough for models and when I've looked for texturing help I see a lot of weird stuff that you should do in softimage. Like do you need a bumb map and such or is it just to add it on the model and it's done? I know how to set up the texture on the model and to map it where on the model but it's so much other stuff that I should do to, or what? :?:

I used to be into skinning in Unreal 2.5. You have your basic model, and the texture. To add realism, you add a bump map. It adds extra texture, or bumps, to a material. Gives it more of a 3-d look.

http://s897.photobucket.com/albums/ac17 ... Modelling/

The AK-47 was a tutorial I found on YouTube, didnt turn out too bad.

The shotgun I made by myself using techniques found in the video, and the baseball bat was just for fun. I also did a machete, which I will post later. Also a smoke grenade, but I made that for my friend in less than 5min.

whatchoo think? :P
