New to the forums, just heard about the game today and I must say I am very excited, hopefully I can get into the beta. I just figured this would be the place for me to post a few of my gripes about the game, I do realize the game isn't even into its beta yet so if any of these things are simply due to the game being in an early stage please say so.

  • Muzzle flash is far too pronounced: after seeing the gameplay footage video most things looked nice but one thing that jumped out at me was the muzzle flash on the pistol. It seemed extremely large for such a small gun and screamed unrealistic.
  • Red screen flash is too aggressive: During the footage when the player takes damage the screen flashes red momentarily, while I realize this is a very good system the effect seemed a bit too aggressive for my taste. By no means should the screen not flash or anything but I just felt it went to a point where it would be overly distracting during a gunfight, while it should be noticeable you shouldn't feel inclined to stare at the borders of the screen imo.
  • Dinosaur AI is lousy: My assumption is that this is due to the game being in its infancy but the dinosaurs seemed very sluggish, the T-rex just stood there and got shot without truly responding and I hope this will be, or is already in the process of being, fixed.

So anyway, just thought I would post my two cents here, conceptually I think the game is brilliant, I would like to be able to play as a raptor or some sort of other dinosaur but I can't honestly think of a game that has executed something like that well and I feel leaving it out is preferable to having a broken concept in the game.

Thanks for joining us and providing criticism, comments are always helpful especially for Indie teams :)

I guess I'll just go down the list
1. the guns you see are actually being designed right now so everything was just there as placeholder :)-- yeah we have a lot of placeholder stuff :)
3. Dinos- the dinos right now have 8 animations. We have 200 animations for every sort of situation that will be implemented before release date- and probably multiple others when we run into more possibilities. This will be the center piece of the game- we won't make them lousy we promise. Actually the Dino model itself its placeholder- We are modeling the higher detailed one right now :)
4. The idea to have a 3rd faction in the game is a VERY interesting idea (we already have humans (carrier) vs. aliens (Altair)) adding a 3rd possible player to be, the dinosaurs, are a common thing we have thought about - sadly it will not come up in Orion:Prelude's original release, but its no where near out of the question for our free DLC or the next Orion after the Prelude :)

Thanks so much for your interest in the game-- We will do our best to make sure we won't let you (and everyone Else's) expectations down.

The best 3 faction multiplayer FPS I have ever played was Alien vs Predator 2 for pc. One of the best features was how distinct each race played. If you decide to make orion multifactioned, make them distinct. Different abilities, different weapons and different mechanics. (Altair run faster, Humans have usual stuff, dinosaurs 3rd person etc.)

ORION Prelude will be balanced in a more retro regard. Physical differences will be slim to none between the Carriers and Altair. Think of it as the same differences between Counter-Terrorists and Terrorists in Counter-Strike. In fact, they will share the same hitboxes. We are going for skill-based competitive gameplay.

In the future, we may dive into more specific race-based elements for other titles.
